Cheonan City in Chungnam Province announced on the 19th that it has launched a birth encouragement campaign together with influencer 'Lurimom' (Kim Sojeong), a mother of seven children.

This campaign was organized to create a birth-friendly atmosphere, and involves nominated individuals or organizations holding a promotional sign, taking a certification photo, and posting it on social media.

Kim Sojeong stated, "I will do my best to help our city grow into a birth-friendly, multi-child city."

Cheonan Mayor Park Sangdon said, "Low birthrate is a serious problem that threatens the future of our society," and promised, "Our city will spare no support for childbirth and childcare," after which he nominated the Cheonan City Childcare Association.

Meanwhile, according to Cheonan City's population statistics, since 2023, the city has entered a 'dead cross' phase, where the number of deaths has surpassed the number of births.

In fact, until 2022, the number of births (3,978) was higher than deaths (3,667), but starting in 2023, with 3,525 births and 3,565 deaths, the trend reversed, marking the beginning of a natural population decline.

To address this, the city has implemented birth encouragement policies for public officials since last year and is preparing measures to expand these efforts to the private sector.
