The prosecution has sent An, a supporter of President Yoon Seok-yeol who attempted to break into public institutions such as police stations dressed as the Marvel character 'Captain America,' to trial in custody.

According to the legal community on the 19th, the Criminal Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Jo Ara) indicted An on the 17th on charges of attempted trespassing, damage to public property, forgery and use of private documents, among others.


An is accused of breaking the glass at the entrance gate of Namdaemun Police Station around 11 p.m. on the 20th of last month, demanding to be investigated quickly, and attempting to enter the premises. He was arrested on the spot during this incident and was detained on the 22nd of last month.


Earlier, on the 14th of the same month, he also attempted to break into the Chinese Embassy in Korea dressed as Captain America. An is also charged with verbally abusing police officers during this incident and forging a fake U.S. military ID card. He was discharged as an Army sergeant and is reported to have no record of traveling to the United States.


Additionally, An is suspected of being the source of the allegation that "99 Chinese spies were arrested by the National Election Commission," which the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Forces Korea have denied. In a recorded phone call with Sky Daily, which reported on the matter, An introduced himself as a black agent of a foreign intelligence agency and claimed that the information was also reported to former President Trump. In an interview with a media outlet, he also confessed that he "deceived all journalists and politicians."


The police have registered the CEO and reporters of Sky Daily as suspects and are investigating the related reports.
