Per-Student Support Ranks Among Top in the Province
Accelerating Efforts to Create a High-Quality Educational Environment
Yeoju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Chung-woo) announced on the 19th that it has allocated and is executing a budget of 9.4 billion KRW for school education support in 2025.
This year, the major education projects in Yeoju include support for school meal expenses (3.37 billion KRW), support for the Future Education Cooperation District (2.5 billion KRW), school response support (environmental improvement) projects (4 schools including Neungbuk Elementary School, 1 billion KRW), school bus operation support (715 million KRW), support for fostering boarding prestigious schools (300 million KRW), and school uniform support (108 million KRW).
In particular, Yeoju is constructing the 'Yeoju Elementary School New Replacement Relocation School Complex Facility' in the Yeoju Station area, which will include educational, cultural, and sports facilities for use by both students and citizens. The design was completed in the first half of this year, and construction is scheduled to begin in the second half to accelerate the building process, with completion targeted for 2027. The complex will include a swimming pool, after-school care classrooms, and a makerspace, providing various educational and cultural benefits to students and local residents.
A Yeoju city official stated, “Despite difficult financial conditions, we are investing a higher level of education budget compared to other local governments so that students in Yeoju can receive quality education at schools,” adding, “We will support so that receiving school education in Yeoju can be a source of pride and benefit.”
Meanwhile, this year, the per-student education expenditure support in Yeoju was analyzed to rank within the top 5 among 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province.
