Gwangju City announced on the 19th that it will implement the "2025 Industrial Complex Workers' Rest Facility Installation Support Project" to guarantee workers' right to rest by improving the break conditions at small and medium-sized businesses in industrial complexes.

The city will invest 118 million KRW in the project, selecting up to 12 businesses to support the costs of establishing or renovating rest facilities such as shower rooms, heating and cooling systems, and ventilation systems.

Eligible businesses are those located in industrial complexes in the Gwangju area that employ between 5 and 20 regular workers as of the announcement date. Up to 80% of the total construction cost per business (up to 8.5 million KRW) will be supported. However, this may be adjusted depending on the number of applicants and on-site conditions.

Businesses wishing to participate can refer to the announcement posted on the Gwangju City or Gwangju Economic Promotion Win-Win Job Foundation websites, fill out the application form, and apply through the Gwangju City Business Support System by April 11. After applications are received, the city will conduct on-site inspections and evaluations by the review committee to select the final recipients.

Lee Gyedu, Director of Labor and Job Policy, said, "We are continuously supporting the installation of rest facilities to improve the break conditions and quality of life for industrial complex workers," adding, "We will continue to work hard to create a safe and pleasant working environment for workers."

Meanwhile, Gwangju City supported the installation of rest facilities at 34 businesses in industrial complexes from 2022 to 2024, providing a total of 340 million KRW in support.
