Seogu District of Gwangju (District Mayor Kim Ikang) will produce and distribute the city's first food-specific labeling information boards.
According to Seogu District on the 19th, the production of these information boards is aimed at guaranteeing consumers' right to know and providing safe food for customers of on-site food manufacturing and processing businesses in the district.
Seogu District will be the first in Gwangju to produce and distribute food-specific labeling information boards.
Seogu District will form a dedicated team together with consumer food hygiene monitors and, by the 28th, distribute the information boards to a total of 460 on-site food manufacturing and processing establishments. They will also provide on-site guidance on how to fill out the boards according to the specific characteristics of each business.
By providing information required for food consumption, such as ingredient names and expiration dates, which must be observed under the Food Sanitation Act, Seogu District aims to improve the hygiene standards of small business owners, such as those running side dish shops, and prevent violations of relevant laws in advance.
Additionally, Seogu District plans to further enhance hygiene standards and provide safe food by producing and distributing a guide that includes compliance requirements of the Food Sanitation Act and instructions on how to fill out food labeling information.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seogu District, stated, "Providing accurate and correct information about food is not only the duty of business owners but also a promise to consumers," and added, "We will do our utmost to prevent violations of the Food Sanitation Act in advance and provide residents with food they can enjoy with peace of mind."
