Awarding Contributors to the Advancement and Exemplary Activities in the Nursing Field
Dongnamwon Nuclear Medical Center recently received the '2nd Busan Nursing Award' at the regular general assembly of the Busan Nurses Association held at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center.
The recipients include two nurses from the center and one 'Member Merit Award' honoree.

The Busan Nursing Award is presented to members of the Busan Nurses Association who have contributed to establishing the status of the nursing profession through the development and growth of nursing specialties. The award is given to ten nurses who have served as exemplary figures in nursing education, specialized field activities, volunteer work, and nursing-related policy activities, actively contributing to the health promotion of Busan citizens.
Kim Yunhwa, head of the Medical Quality Management Team and recipient of the Busan Nursing Award, has played an exemplary role as a clinical nurse and an expert in medical quality improvement and patient safety for about 30 years. She was especially recognized for leading the establishment and operation of the patient safety management system infrastructure and for her proactive efforts to improve the quality of medical services and prevent patient safety incidents for patients, caregivers, and all staff members.
Lee Soyeon, head nurse, contributed to stable and efficient ward operations by serving as an in-house continuing education instructor and dedicating herself to the education and competency enhancement of nurses with a leading attitude. She was also highly praised for her long-term volunteer work supporting underprivileged neighbors, which helped elevate the status of nurses.
As a special award, Kang Kyungsun, head of the nursing department, received the Member Merit Award. Kang has been recognized for her contributions to enhancing the professionalism of the Busan Nurses Association and advancing nursing education through her activities as a member of the association's Education Committee since 2023.
Jang Heesoon, director of nursing, said, "I am very pleased that three nurses from Dongnamwon Nuclear Medical Center have received this honor. As one of Busan's leading public medical institutions, we will continue to provide comfortable and high-quality nursing services to our patients and do our best to become a nursing department that sets an example for our juniors."
