Busan Office of Education Expands Support for Autonomous Teacher Training Expenses This Year

Expansion of Support Amount and Scope
for Enhancing Teachers' Professionalism

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is providing self-directed training funds to teachers (including contract teachers) to enhance their professionalism and capabilities. In particular, this year, the amount of self-directed training funds has been increased and the scope of eligible expenses has been expanded.

The self-directed training fund for teachers is supported with 100,000 KRW from the Office of Education and 100,000 KRW from each affiliated school, allowing up to 200,000 KRW per person. This is an increase of 75,000 KRW compared to last year.

The scope of recognized expenses for the self-directed training fund has also been significantly expanded. First, all job training courses completed at institutions recognized by the Ministry of Education or the Office of Education are now eligible for support. Unlike last year, when only subject-related job training was recognized, this measure aims to accommodate the diverse needs of teachers.

In addition, there are no restrictions on purchasing university (graduate school) tuition and books. This is to provide teachers with a variety of training opportunities based on their autonomy and accountability.

Song Youngcheol, Director of Teacher Personnel Affairs, said, "The expansion of support for the self-directed training fund will play a significant role in improving the quality of classes and increasing student satisfaction through the enhancement of teachers' professionalism," and added, "We will continue our efforts to increase the amount and scope of the self-directed training fund."
