At the end of last year, the county launched the "Vacant House Repair OK, Rental GOOD" pilot project, remodeling abandoned houses in the area to offer them to young people and newlyweds at an affordable monthly rent of 10,000 won.

The selection of vacant houses was based on a comprehensive evaluation of factors such as proximity to amenities, elementary schools, public transportation, repair costs, and the condition of the houses. Tenants were chosen through an open recruitment process and a fair scoring system via the Muan County website.

Building on the successful start of this pilot project, the county plans to closely review its operation before expanding the initiative and exploring new residential welfare models. Efforts will continue to increase the utilization of vacant houses and implement various housing welfare policies so that more residents can benefit.

Governor Kim San stated, "Through this vacant house regeneration project, abandoned houses have been transformed into new homes, supporting stable living for vulnerable groups and contributing to the revitalization of the local community. We will continue to work on improving the residential environment through ongoing vacant house maintenance."
