The stock price of Daejin Advanced Materials is showing a rise of over 20% in early trading. Investor sentiment appears to be focused on Daejin Advanced Materials, which supplies CNT conductive additives to BYD, following news that the Chinese company BYD is launching a battery system capable of driving 400 km with a 5-minute charge.
As of 9:36 a.m. on the 19th, Daejin Advanced Materials' stock price recorded 15,600 KRW, up 22.45% from the previous day. The unveiling of BYD's new battery system seems to have acted as a positive catalyst.
According to major foreign media including Bloomberg on the 17th (local time), BYD unveiled the 1000-volt (V) based 'Super E-Platform' in Shenzhen, China. This platform supports specifications of up to 1000V and 1000A, allowing charging at up to 1000 kilowatts (kW). This is twice as fast as Tesla's Supercharger. Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD, introduced the platform by stating, "Electric vehicles equipped with this platform can travel 400 km with a 5-minute charge."
This platform will first be applied to the new electric sedan 'Han L' and the sport utility vehicle (SUV) 'Tang L.' Both models began pre-sales on the same day.
Meanwhile, to enter the new CNT conductive additive market, Daejin Advanced Materials established a joint venture with Shandong Dazan Nano Materials in March 2023. Shandong Dazan Nano Materials is the world's second-largest CNT manufacturer and supplies CNT powder and conductive additives to BYD and CATL.
