Hot Bars with Over 89% Pork Content
Enhanced Quality with Domestic Chicken Skewers
CU, a convenience store operated by BGF Retail, announced on the 19th that it will expand its lineup of ultra-low-priced products such as 990-won hot bars, 1,900-won beer, and 2,500-won chicken skewers.
First, as part of the ultra-low-priced 'Private Brand (PB) Deuktem Series,' CU will launch three types of 990-won hot bars Deuktem (Original, Pepper, Garlic). Compared to the existing hot bar Deuktem (180g, 2,500 won), these products have a reduced portion size of 65g, making them convenient to eat in one sitting. They use more than 89% domestic pork and are priced at less than half the cost of NB (manufacturer brand) products of the same size.
On the 26th, CU will introduce two types of domestic chicken skewer Deuktem (60g, 2,500 won). Made with domestic chicken, these skewers preserve rich juice and a tender texture, available in Original and Black Pepper flavors.
Additionally, to prepare for the summer season, CU will release a 1,900-won Saengmacha Lager can (500㎖). This product was created as part of a project to revitalize the local economy in collaboration with the izakaya brand 'Saengmacha,' known for its 1,900-won draft beer and 990-won chicken wings.
The ultra-low-priced PB Deuktem Series, launched by CU in 2021, has surpassed a cumulative sales volume of 60 million units this month, about four years after its release, emphasizing high quality and reasonable prices. The number of products in the Deuktem Series increased by 72% compared to the previous year, and sales grew by 116%.
Yoo Seon-woong, Head of Product Division at BGF Retail, said, "With food prices rising daily, we aim to contribute to stabilizing living costs by strengthening cost-effective food product lines." He added, "We will continue to collaborate with excellent manufacturing partners to diversify products with enhanced price competitiveness."
