20th Anniversary Special Exhibition of the Heo Jun Museum
From the 21st to September 7th
Gangseo-gu, Seoul announced on the 18th that it will hold a special exhibition titled "Joseon Doctors Practicing In (仁)" from the 21st to September 7th to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Heo Jun Museum.
The special exhibition features stories of Confucian doctors (儒醫, Confucian scholars who were also physicians) and medical officers of the Joseon Dynasty who practiced In (仁), the highest virtue of Confucianism, through medical skills.
This exhibition showcases a total of 105 artifacts that reveal the medical practices of the time. In addition to 78 artifacts from the Heo Jun Museum collection, 27 artifacts from Sangju Museum, Handok Medical Museum, and the Confucianism Museum of the Korea Institute of Hanok Studies are also displayed.
The Heo Jun Museum opened in March 2005 in Gangseo-gu as a specialized museum for Korean traditional medicine to honor Heo Jun's achievements and promote the globalization of Korean medicine. Gangseo-gu is Heo Jun's hometown and the place where the Donguibogam was written.
