"Not Her Husband, But the Director in Charge of Filming"
News of actress Lee Si-young's (43) divorce has brought unexpected attention back to a man who frequently appeared in her short-form content.
Lee Si-young gained great popularity on the video platform TikTok by playfully bickering with a bespectacled man. Because of this, many netizens mistakenly believed the two were married. Thus, some were puzzled upon hearing about her divorce. However, the man in question is not her husband but the director in charge of filming.
At the end of last year, Lee Si-young appeared as a close friend of Ki Eun-se on the YouTube web variety show ‘Eunse’s Gourmet Hall’ and explained about the man. Lee said, “You know the guy with glasses? Most people think he’s my husband. He’s actually the same age as me.” Ki Eun-se agreed, saying, “That’s right. Everyone thought he was your husband.”
Regarding this man, Lee Si-young clarified with a smile, “But he’s the same age as me and not married. He feels unfairly dragged into this.” She added, “At first, I persuaded him to help with filming. I bought him chicken and beer from the place below my house and told him to go home safely. Now, he’s become a really close friend.”
During the broadcast, Lee Si-young revealed, “Because I work out, I have a strong image. I mostly played roles like prosecutors, detectives, and police officers. But I actually love comedy. Since I didn’t have a chance to do it directly, I started TikTok.” She explained that she began shooting reels to satisfy her craving for acting and gradually found it enjoyable.
She also shared an episode from that time, saying, “There’s a company that films my reels, but their internal rules only allow celebrities to shoot once a week. However, I wanted to film two or three times a week.” She said, “The director was worried about reporting to the company, so I asked him, ‘I need to upload a trending reference today. After work, I’ll buy you a beer, so please just shoot one.’”
Meanwhile, Lee Si-young’s agency Ace Factory stated on the 17th, “Lee Si-young and Jo (52), a businessman in the food industry, have mutually agreed to proceed with divorce procedures amicably,” adding, “As this is the actress’s personal matter, we find it difficult to provide detailed information.”
