Lee Chan-hee, Chairman of the Samsung Compliance Monitoring Committee (JunGamWi), said on the 18th about Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong's recent orders to company executives to be "tough Samsung people" and to adopt the mindset of "sa-jeuk-saeng (死則生, death means life)," "Isn't it that internal opinions have gathered to do our best?"

Chairman Lee made these remarks on the afternoon of the same day before the 3rd regular meeting of JunGamWi held at the Samsung Life Seocho Building in Seocho-gu, Seoul, when meeting with reporters.


When asked about the most urgent task to overcome Samsung's crisis, he replied, "I think everything is contained in the chairman's words."


Chairman Lee Jae-yong recently criticized Samsung executives at a seminar, saying, "We have lost the resilience that is characteristic of Samsung," and delivered the message, "It is time for the management to thoroughly reflect and act boldly with the determination of 'sa-jeuk-saeng'." He also pointed out, "We are facing a survival issue of a different dimension than before, a matter of life or death," and emphasized, "The management must reflect deeply."


Regarding discussions on the revival of Samsung's control tower, Chairman Lee said, "They are ongoing."


Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics will hold its 56th regular shareholders' meeting on the 19th at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi-do.
