Yeongju Holds Resident Briefing on Small-Scale Housing Maintenance Management Plan

Expectations for Improved Residential Environment through Systematic Management
of the 'New: Village' Project Site near Homeplus

On the 18th, the city of Yeongju, Gyeongbuk held a resident briefing session at the administrative welfare center of Huchon 2-dong regarding the establishment of a small-scale housing maintenance management plan and the designation of a management area within the 'New: Village' project site near Homeplus.

During this session, the city provided detailed explanations about the purpose and background of the New: Village project, the contents of the management plan, and ways for residents to participate in the self-governing housing maintenance project, while also listening directly to residents' opinions.

In accordance with the enactment of the 'Special Act on Vacant Houses and Small-Scale Housing Maintenance,' Yeongju has been conducting a service to designate the residential area near Homeplus in Huchon 2-dong as a small-scale maintenance management zone. The city also actively participated in the 2024 government contest project for improving old low-rise residential areas, 'New: Village.' As a result, last year, the city secured a total project budget of 25 billion KRW, including 15 billion KRW in national funds, and has begun full-scale implementation of the project.

To fulfill the requirements of the contest project, the city must establish a 'Small-Scale Housing Maintenance Management Plan' and designate the area as a management zone by the first half of this year. Accordingly, through the resident briefing session, the city plans to enhance residents' understanding of the New: Village project and the management plan, and to encourage active participation and cooperation.

Kim Hyungsoo, head of the Architecture Division, stated, "Through the New: Village project, we expect that old and deteriorated residential areas will be transformed into pleasant and attractive living spaces," and added, "We will actively promote the project based on a systematic maintenance plan."
