On the morning of the 18th, an error occurred where the stock trading system's order book froze and trades were not executed during market hours.
According to the Korea Exchange and others, around 11:40 a.m., for about five minutes, the order book on securities firms' Home Trading Systems (HTS) froze and trades were not processed.
A Korea Exchange official stated, "It has been confirmed that orders placed through some securities firms' HTS were not executed," adding, "We are currently investigating the exact cause."
An official from a securities firm explained, "The temporary suspension of price inquiries and order executions for certain stocks on the Korea Exchange's KOSPI market this morning was confirmed to be a common issue across all securities firms," and clarified, "It was not a problem with the securities firms but caused by the exchange."
Currently, stock trading is operating normally.
