On this day, Mayor Kim Byung-su, along with administrative officers representing senior and working-level public officials, pledged to practice integrity together. The declaration for the pledge to practice integrity included ▲ creating an honest organization through leading by example ▲ firmly blocking corruption and misconduct ▲ fostering an organizational culture based on trust and respect ▲ proactive administration for citizens.
This stood out as it was composed of practical items for public officials to implement in order to block corruption risks they may face and to realize an integrity-based administration that citizens can trust. Unlike before, working-level administrative officers also participated in the pledge, emphasizing the values of mutual respect and consideration.
Following this, Mayor Kim Byung-su conducted integrity education for senior public officials under the theme of ‘Five Practical Standards for Integrity Leadership of Senior Public Officials.’ In particular, he emphasized integrity leadership with the phrase, “If I stand upright, my juniors will stand upright,” encouraging a ‘personal integrity attitude.’ He also urged ▲ treating others with respectful words and expressions ▲ heightened vigilance against sexual misconduct and drunk driving.
The attendees on this day unanimously agreed on the effectiveness of the institution head’s education, saying, “Today’s education became a practical measure for communication and cooperation.”
Meanwhile, Gimpo City signed an ‘MOU with Local Public Institutions’ last February to spread a regional culture of integrity. The city plans to continue developing and promoting new integrity policies, such as role-playing-based integrity education, to maintain ongoing interest and practice in public sector integrity.
