Damyang County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that it will strengthen crackdowns on illegal parking and stopping in 11 designated children's protection zones (school zones) to create a safer commuting environment for children.

The county stated that for nine locations, including Damyangnam Elementary School, which are currently in the guidance period for illegal parking enforcement vehicles, full-scale crackdowns will begin in April, while for two locations, including Damyangdong Elementary School, enforcement will officially start in May following the administrative notice process.

Prior to this, the county completed lane painting and anti-slip pavement projects in school zones to prevent traffic accidents. Installation of signs to enhance visibility is also underway.

A county official said, "We will continue to improve necessary facilities to prevent traffic accidents in children's protection zones," and added, "Active cooperation from drivers is needed to create a safe environment for children commuting to and from school."

The official further stated, "We hope that this crackdown on illegal parking and stopping in children's protection zones will not only ensure a safer commuting environment for children but also serve as an opportunity to elevate the overall level of traffic safety in Damyang."
