Drone artificial intelligence (AI) company NearsLab announced on the 18th that it has appointed Kim Dong-hyun, former CEO of MokaSystem, as its new vice president.


Vice President Kim majored in mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and earned a master's degree in industrial engineering from Stanford University. He has been responsible for business development at global companies such as Boeing, Motorola, and LG Electronics. Recently, he served as the CEO of MokaSystem, a subsidiary of Suprema that holds core bio-recognition technology, leading innovations in mobile and cloud-based physical security solutions.

With extensive experience in business-to-business (B2B) enterprise solutions and physical security, Vice President Kim plans to strengthen NearsLab’s existing core businesses in defense, security, and inspection while integrating AI-based drone solutions into various B2B enterprise markets to create new market opportunities. In particular, by enhancing partnerships in the U.S. and Southeast Asia, he aims to establish differentiated business models not only in the overseas defense market but also in the B2B enterprise sector.


NearsLab leverages AI-based autonomous flight, swarm flight control, and unmanned operation technologies as its core competencies, providing integrated AI drone solutions that combine hardware and software. Recognized for its differentiated autonomous flight software technology in the industrial safety inspection market, NearsLab plans to further strengthen its global market presence under Vice President Kim’s leadership.


Vice President Kim stated, “The drone industry has now reached a stage where it can provide essential and differentiated value,” adding, “Through NearsLab’s AI-based autonomous flight technology and unmanned operation technology, we will add a new dimension of intelligence and efficiency to existing industries.”
