Sacheon City to Promote Support Project for Improving Settlement Conditions for Families of Relocated Korea Aerospace Administration Employees

Support to Encourage Local Settlement
Attracting Outstanding Professionals

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam Province announced on the 18th that it will actively promote support projects to improve settlement conditions for relocated staff of the Space Aviation Agency and their accompanying families, aiming to encourage their stable settlement in the region.

The main projects include relocation settlement incentives for relocated staff (2 million KRW per person, up to 10 million KRW, one-time only), incentives for elementary and middle school children transferring or enrolling (1.5 million KRW per child, one-time only), childcare support for preschool children in cooperation with Gyeongnam Province (500,000 KRW per child, for 2 years), housing brokerage and registration fee support (brokerage fee up to 500,000 KRW, registration fee up to 250,000 KRW), monthly rent support for residences (300,000 KRW per month, for 2 years), and health checkup support (up to 300,000 KRW per person).

To receive the relocation settlement incentive and childcare support among these programs, applicants must have continuously resided in another city, county, or district for at least two years before relocating to Sacheon City after the opening of the Space Aviation Agency and must have been registered as residents for at least six months. The incentive for children’s school transfer or enrollment is only available to children who have attended a school in Sacheon for over one year.

Meanwhile, the city also plans to extend support to children under the age of two and those born after the family’s relocation, depending on whether the parents meet the eligibility requirements, to further contribute to the stable settlement of relocated staff of the Space Aviation Agency.

However, the support period is three years from the opening date of the Space Aviation Agency, and if the eligibility requirements are not met after receiving the support funds, the funds will be subject to recovery.

Additionally, Sacheon City has prepared various separate programs for the families of relocated staff, such as up to 10 million KRW for family startups, up to 6 million KRW as employment incentives for companies hiring family members at small and medium-sized enterprises, up to 5 million KRW as long-term employment incentives for the family members themselves, and up to 320,000 KRW for horseback riding experience fees for children and youth to encourage creative activities.

Gyeongnam Province is also promoting the relocation of Space Aviation Agency staff and their families by providing separate family relocation settlement funds (2 million KRW per person, up to 8 million KRW) and scholarships for elementary, middle, and high school children (500,000 KRW per month per child, up to two years).

Park Dongsik, Mayor of Sacheon, said, “We will spare no practical support so that talented individuals with global competitiveness in the space industry can relocate to Sacheon and actively work at the Space Aviation Agency,” adding, “We will do our utmost to swiftly develop our city into a space aviation complex city in cooperation with the Space Aviation Agency.”
