Yeongdeungpo-gu Conducts Safety Inspections During Thawing Season Using Drones and 3D Scanners Choi Ho-kwon, Yeongdeungpo District Mayor, inspecting a building using rebar detection equipment

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will conduct safety inspections of vulnerable facilities using advanced equipment such as drones and 3D scanners until the end of March to prevent safety accidents that may occur during the thawing season.

During the thawing season, safety accidents can occur as the ground frozen during winter melts, so this is a proactive measure to respond to such safety accidents. The inspection targets are 78 facilities at risk of safety accidents, including buildings, construction sites, pedestrian overpasses, steep slopes, and retaining walls.

In particular, this safety inspection will precisely identify cracks, poor drainage, exposed rebar, and leaks using advanced equipment instead of the conventional visual inspection.

For large structures that are difficult to access, such as upper floors and steep slopes, drones will be used to closely examine drainage outlets and concrete. Aged buildings and overpasses will be re-examined with thermal imaging cameras and 3D scanners for precise diagnosis. For rebar structures, crack width gauges and other tools will be used to closely inspect crack conditions and rebar strength.

If any risk factors are found, immediate repair and reinforcement measures will be taken to ensure the safety of residents. The inspection results will be used for future facility safety management, monitoring, and detailed safety diagnosis.

On the 4th, Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon, along with a joint inspection team composed of private experts, carefully checked for safety issues using drones and 3D scanners while inspecting the steep slope retaining wall of Singil Samhwan Apartment, Yeongjin Market Apartment designated as disaster risk facility grade E, and the old fence of Salesio Youth Center.

Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon stated, “By utilizing advanced equipment to minimize safety blind spots and closely examine vulnerable facilities, we will create a safer Yeongdeungpo.”
