Members of the National Assembly, who have entered the 7th day of a hunger strike demanding the Constitutional Court's ruling on the impeachment trial of President Yoon Seok-yeol, pointed out the prolonged delay in the court's impeachment judgment.

The "Yoon Seok-yeol Impeachment Opposition 5-Party National Assembly Members' Solidarity Hunger Strike Group" (hereinafter referred to as the Impeachment Solidarity Hunger Strike Group) held a press conference on the 17th at the Gwanghwamun protest site in Seoul, urging the Constitutional Court to deliver its ruling on President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment trial.

The Impeachment Solidarity Hunger Strike Group stated, "It has been 105 days since President Yoon allegedly instigated an insurrection, yet the Constitutional Court has still not set a date for the impeachment ruling," adding, "Despite the conclusion of the hearings over two weeks ago, the failure to announce a ruling date is utterly incomprehensible."

They noted, "This trial is recording the longest duration among all presidential impeachment trials in history," and emphasized, "The Constitutional Court must deliver a verdict based on constitutional principles and justice, without being swayed by external pressures."

They continued, "Even President Yoon's legal team and the People Power Party have stated they will naturally accept the impeachment outcome," and questioned, "What is there to fear in delivering a conclusion, and for whom is the delay being prolonged?"

The Impeachment Solidarity Hunger Strike Group is currently continuing its hunger strike, which has surpassed 100 hours. The group is a voluntary assembly of opposition party lawmakers from the Democratic Party, the Party for People's Innovation, the Progressive Party, the Basic Income Party, and the Social Democratic Party, aiming for President Yoon's resignation, with about 50 members participating. Democratic Party lawmaker Park Soo-hyun and Party for People's Innovation floor leader Hwang Un-ha serve as co-chairs, while Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Jun-hyuk and Progressive Party lawmaker Yoon Jong-oh serve as secretaries.
