March 28 marks the 10th West Sea Defense Day.
West Sea Defense Day is a legal commemorative day designated on the fourth Friday of March since 2016 to honor the 55 heroes who sacrificed their lives in the defense of the West Sea during incidents such as the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, the sinking of the Cheonan, and the shelling of Yeonpyeong Island, as well as the soldiers who participated in these events.
In commemoration, the Gyeongnam Eastern Veterans Affairs Office is holding an online National Roll Call event through its official blog, where 55 participants who call out the names of the 55 West Sea heroes and write thank-you letters will be selected by lottery to receive mobile gifticons.
An official from the Gyeongnam Eastern Veterans Affairs Office stated, "We kindly ask for your active participation in this event, which serves as a reminder of our gratitude and ensures that the sacrifice and dedication of the 55 West Sea heroes for the nation are never forgotten."
