School playgrounds and gymnasiums in the Suwon area of Gyeonggi Province will be opened more extensively.
On the 17th, Suwon City signed the '2025 School Facility Opening Activation Business Agreement' with the Suwon Office of Education and the Suwon Sports Council at the city hall integrated civil service center.
A total of 203 elementary, middle, and high schools in Suwon City are participating in this agreement.
According to the agreement, Suwon City will support schools with operating expenses for opened facilities such as small-scale maintenance costs for facility upkeep, cleaning supplies, and public utility fees based on the actual opening performance of playgrounds and gymnasiums. Additionally, when reviewing educational expense subsidy projects (small-scale environmental improvement projects), extra points will be awarded to schools that open their facilities, and priority will be given to schools that promote projects for facility opening.

The Suwon Office of Education will conduct on-site guidance and inspections if there are schools that have not opened their facilities or where complaints have occurred, and will encourage each school to actively open their facilities. It will also promote a change in awareness to encourage schools at all levels to open their facilities and regularly check the opening status.
The Suwon Sports Council will designate representatives when community sports clubs use school facilities and provide guidance on their roles. It will explain compliance requirements to facility users and prioritize support for supplies to school sports team athletes at schools that actively open their facilities.
Hyun Geun-taek, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Suwon City, said, "With today's agreement, we have established a solid cooperative system to activate the opening of school facilities in Suwon City," adding, "I hope that the local community and schools will coexist and that the regional community will become stronger."
