Cheon Ha-ram, Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader of the Reform New Party, stated on the 17th regarding the impeachment trial of President Yoon Seok-yeol currently underway at the Constitutional Court, "He must be impeached, and I am confident that he will be impeached."

At the Reform New Party's Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Acting Leader Cheon said, "It is difficult to find any compliance with the Constitution and laws in the purpose, procedure, and content of President Yoon's emergency martial law," adding, "If President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment is dismissed, the Constitutional Court would be giving a free pass to reckless emergency martial law that would have fatal impacts on our diplomacy, security, and economy."

He also strongly denied concerns that conservative-leaning constitutional justices might make a different judgment. He said, "I am confident that the conservative-leaning constitutional justices will make an impeachment decision more firmly than anyone else." Acting Leader Cheon explained the reason, saying, "Governments always change back and forth," and questioned, "Would conservative-leaning constitutional justices allow a precedent where a Democratic Party president arbitrarily declares emergency martial law without meeting the requirements and procedures?"

Furthermore, he pointed out, "Wouldn't it be frightening if Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party leader with the highest approval rating, becomes president and declares emergency martial law without meeting the requirements and procedures?" He added, "If the impeachment of President Yoon is dismissed, it would lead to the conclusion that even if Representative Lee declares unconstitutional emergency martial law, the Constitutional Court would find it difficult to impeach."
