Opportunity to Become a Global Webtoon Creator
Support for Serializing Outstanding Works After Completion
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 17th that it is recruiting trainees for the global webtoon discovery project "Webtoon Startup" course until April 4.
Last December, the city was designated as the only Culture City of Korea in the field of cultural content by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and is preparing its three core projects: business support, talent development, and citizen enjoyment.

The "Webtoon Startup" education course, which is part of the talent development project, is expected to serve as a signal for establishing Suncheon as a hub for webtoon creation.
"Webtoon Startup" is a joint project between Suncheon City and Kenaz, and will be held for four weeks from April 15 to May 9 at the Suncheon Global Webtoon Center, where anchor company Kenaz is located. Anyone over 19 years old preparing to debut a webtoon work can participate, with up to 15 aspiring creators. The course focuses on webtoon storytelling and developing project proposals for the global market.
This program features excellent instructors who are alumni of ChungKang College of Cultural Industries, as well as on-site mentoring by Kenaz professionals, enabling each participant to complete their project proposal. Outstanding proposals will receive focused production support in the main course of the 2025 Suncheon Webtoon Academy.
Participants in the Webtoon Startup will have the opportunity to create and network in the same space as aspiring artists who graduated from the Angouleme Academy in France and are currently undergoing intensive training in Suncheon, as well as webtoon producers.
A city official stated, "As the largest webtoon production company and professional education provider has relocated to Suncheon, we are preparing to nurture practical talents desired by companies and to offer high-quality education locally. We hope that inspiration from the vast open spaces unique to Suncheon Bay will lead to the creation of outstanding K-content and make Suncheon a hub for supplying professional content talent."
