Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 17th that, in conjunction with the '1st Defense Industry Day (July 8)', it will co-host the '2025 Defense Industry Parts, Materials, and Equipment Expo' with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration at the Changwon Convention Center (CECO) from July 9 to 11 for three days on a large scale.
Changwon Special City Kicks Off the 2025 Defense Industry Parts, Materials, and Equipment Expo in Full Swing.
To this end, the two organizations signed a business agreement for the successful hosting of the event on the 10th and have officially begun preparations.
This event, which aims to promote the excellence of domestic defense industry technology by exhibiting localized development items for each military branch and defense company products, as well as to foster networking between demanders such as military units and system integrators and suppliers, has been held biennially in cooperation with local governments since 2010, and this year marks its 8th edition.
In particular, this year's '2025 Defense Industry Parts, Materials, and Equipment Expo' will be the first event to be held in connection with the '1st Defense Industry Day (July 8)' and will take place simultaneously in both Seoul and Changwon.
During the event period in Changwon, in addition to the existing programs such as the exhibition of localized parts for Army, Navy, and Air Force weapon systems, a seminar on the advancement of parts localization, a future power planning symposium, a technology exchange meeting between system integrators and SMEs, and an offset trade consultation session, a variety of unique cultural programs will also be introduced, including special defense industry performances for industry professionals, their families, and citizens, providing a diverse range of attractions.
Furthermore, as the only domestic event centered on SMEs, the expo will feature various exhibition and experience halls focused on SME-developed parts, expanded participation and booth matching for system integrators to strengthen communication with SMEs, theme-based exhibitions of weapon systems to enhance understanding among participants and visitors, and a focus on technology exchanges linked to advanced technologies such as AI and unmanned systems. In addition, the National Defense Quality Comprehensive Academic Conference will be held concurrently to maximize synergy effects.
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, "It is very meaningful that Changwon is the first local government to co-host the Defense Industry Parts, Materials, and Equipment Expo with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration for the third time. Through this event, I hope it will provide opportunities for the growth of defense SMEs and venture companies, as well as a platform for cooperation among industry, academia, research, government, and the military. Going forward, Changwon City will spare no administrative support at the municipal level to foster the local defense industry so that the power of K-defense can continue."
