"Expanding Demonstration Opportunities" Public Procurement Service Introduces Pilot Purchase of Innovative Products for Lease

The Public Procurement Service (PPS) is set to actively promote pilot leasing purchases of innovative products to expand opportunities for demonstration of such products.

On the 17th, PPS announced that it has finalized the products and demand institutions for the pilot leasing purchases and will disclose them on the Innovation Market.

The pilot leasing purchase was newly introduced to expand usage opportunities for products that are difficult to use through the existing direct purchase method, such as high-priced products or those requiring multi-agency pilot use.

This year, the scale of pilot leasing purchases is 2.4 billion KRW, with 27 products being leased and used by 58 institutions.

The pilot purchase target products include an insect-specialized smart factory, 3D hologram touch vision, and an Internet of Things (IoT) smart public asset management system. These products are expensive, making it difficult for individual institutions to purchase them, or require use in various institutions and environments, making the leasing method potentially more efficient.

PPS expects that pilot leasing purchases will reduce the burden of purchasing and maintenance costs of high-priced equipment for demand institutions and enable performance improvements of innovative products through their use by these institutions.

Kang Hee-hoon, Director of New Growth Procurement Planning, stated, “Through the pilot purchase project, we will respond to diverse demand environments and strengthen the public procurement environment that supports technology development and growth of innovative companies.”
