Kumho Tire Launches 'Safety Advisory Committee' to Prevent Industrial Accidents

Appointment of External Members to the Advisory Committee

Kumho Tire is making comprehensive efforts to prevent industrial accidents.


On the 14th, Kumho Tire held an appointment ceremony for the Safety Advisory Committee and officially began its operation, the company announced on the 17th. The appointed members are all external figures, including Kang Mangu, Director of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, Lee Cheolwoo, Technical Director of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, and Lee Dongkyung, Professor at Woosong University.

Kumho Tire established the Safety Advisory Committee to ensure compliance with the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accident Punishment Act, fulfill corporate social responsibility through ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management by practicing socially responsible and transparent management, and to receive policy requests and suggestions related to industrial accident prevention.


The committee members will inspect compliance with the Serious Accident Punishment Act at domestic business sites, develop strategies to prevent industrial accidents at domestic sites, and seek synergy effects through linkage with global safety meetings.


The meetings will be held once every quarter. Especially, the CEO will directly participate in the 2nd and 4th meetings to reaffirm Kumho Tire’s commitment to safety.


At the first meeting, discussions were held on mandatory compliance with the Serious Accident Punishment Act, appropriateness of safety and health budgets and personnel, and overall evaluation of safety and health activities. There was also a time for sharing ideas and discussions to foster a safe environment and culture.


Kim Myungseon, Vice President and Head of Production Technology at Kumho Tire, said, “As Kumho Tire’s slogans say, ‘There is no if in safety,’ ‘There is no next time,’ ‘You and I are not separate,’ and ‘We protect safety,’ we will become a company that is more sincere about safety,” adding, “We will fulfill the social responsibility of an ESG management company.”
