SK Innovation E&S i-Parking Selected as 'Electric Vehicle Charging Facility Subsidy Project Operator'

Selected for Two Consecutive Years

SK Innovation E&S announced on the 17th that its electric vehicle charging and parking platform subsidiary, i-Parking, has been selected as the project execution agency for the Ministry of Environment’s “2025 Electric Vehicle Rapid and Slow Charging Facility Subsidy Project.”

The electric vehicle charging facility subsidy project supports the installation of shared slow charging facilities in multi-family housing, workplaces, and large parking lots, or the installation of rapid charging facilities in living spaces, commercial facilities, commercial vehicle garages, logistics centers, and highway rest areas.

Subsidies are provided when charging facilities are installed through project execution agencies selected annually by the Ministry of Environment through public recruitment and evaluation. The project execution agencies are selected by comprehensively evaluating various indicators such as management status, project management, user convenience, project execution, maintenance, chargers, and charging services among operators capable of installing and managing charging facilities.

i-Parking achieved the distinction of being selected as a project execution agency for two consecutive years in both rapid and slow charging categories in this recruitment. This achievement is especially significant given that the number of selected operators drastically decreased from 28 rapid and 40 slow charging operators last year to 12 and 17 respectively this year due to stricter evaluation criteria including compliance with subsidy guidelines.

i-Parking attributes its selection as a project execution agency this year to its recognized capabilities in standardized high-quality safe construction, real-time charger status monitoring, and stable charging service operation without failures through a nationwide maintenance system.

Furthermore, based on its charging station operation and management capabilities, i-Parking plans to accelerate the expansion of infrastructure focused on “destination charging,” enabling electric vehicle drivers to naturally charge their vehicles while staying at destinations within their daily routes such as workplaces, commercial, cultural, and public facilities.

i-Parking is a parking platform company with a network of over 8,900 directly operated and affiliated parking lots nationwide. It officially entered the electric vehicle charging business in 2023 by launching the electric vehicle charging brand “i-Parking EV (i PARKING EV).”

Since then, leveraging SK Innovation E&S’s energy solution business capabilities and NHN, its joint major shareholder’s expertise in information and communication technology (ICT), i-Parking has been developing and providing differentiated electric vehicle charging services such as destination charging.

i-Parking is expanding charging infrastructure primarily in locations with high electric vehicle traffic through analysis of parking lot entry and exit data. It also offers a differentiated “one-stop electric vehicle charging and parking solution” through an integrated electric vehicle charging and parking application (app), providing features such as charging station search and easy, convenient charging without a physical card.

Last year, i-Parking achieved notable results, including having the highest number of 32 projects selected in the Ministry of Environment’s second phase of the zero-emission vehicle transition brand project.

Yeom Chang-yeol, Vice President and Head of New Energy Business Promotion Office at SK Innovation E&S, stated, “In 2025, i-Parking will take the lead in expanding destination charging infrastructure linked to the Ministry of Environment’s subsidy projects and will strive to become a trusted leading brand for electric vehicle customers by expanding differentiated services.”
