CU, Visit Parcel Usage Up 447%
Seven Eleven, Good Parcel Usage Up 3.5 Times
The usage rate of convenience store parcel delivery services has increased significantly.
According to the convenience store industry on the 17th, the visit parcel delivery service at CU, operated by BGF Retail, saw an average daily usage increase of 447% last month compared to its initial launch. The visit parcel delivery service, introduced in October last year, surpassed 5,000 uses within just fifteen days, and its cumulative sales have exceeded 100 million KRW, maintaining its popularity. The main users of the visit parcel delivery service are people in their 20s and 30s, who make up 78% of all users, reflecting the high proportion of single- and two-person households.
This service allows customers to set their own parcel pickup date. If requested before 6 a.m., same-day pickup is possible, enhancing convenience and speed. Customers can access the CU POST app, check the shipping fee conditions by courier company, and then make a reservation by selecting the desired visit date on the visit parcel delivery page.
CU plans to expand customer options by adding CJ Logistics this month, in addition to the existing visit parcel delivery operators Lotte Courier and Hanjin Courier.
Seven Eleven's Good Parcel service usage is also increasing. Over the week starting from the 10th, the number of Good Parcel uses increased 3.5 times compared to the initial launch. Since the introduction of the Good Parcel service, total parcel sales have increased by 35% compared to the same period last year. On the mobile app 'Seven App,' the parcel reservation menu has been viewed over 150,000 times since its launch.
Good Parcel is a service that uses Seven Eleven's own logistics network, offering reasonable prices and no restrictions on usage days. Unlike parcels that vary by weight or region, it operates at a uniform nationwide rate.
Seven Eleven is running a discount promotion offering the Good Parcel service for 990 KRW until the end of April. After this event ends, Seven Eleven plans to continue providing the Good Parcel service at 1,760 KRW, which is 11% lower than the standard price. Regular parcel delivery can be used at a uniform price of 2,000 KRW through the Seven App until the end of this month. Through the LogiEye app, it is available for 2,500 KRW.
Parcel delivery services have recently become one of the representative services of convenience stores over the past few years. This is due to the preference among younger generations for non-face-to-face transactions such as online shopping and secondhand trading. Unlike visit parcel delivery, convenience store parcel services can be used via mobile devices or PCs, so they are expected to continue growing steadily in the future.
