Asiana Airlines announced on the 17th that it will reduce flights on European routes starting from the end of April.

This reduction is in response to corrective measures by the European Union (EU) competition authorities to address concerns over monopoly on European routes. Asiana Airlines stopped selling tickets for the flights scheduled for reduction simultaneously with its acquisition as a subsidiary of Korean Air in December last year.

Some of the traffic rights for Asiana Airlines' three European routes (Frankfurt, Paris, Rome) have been transferred to other national carriers, maintaining the overall supply capacity on European routes.

Accordingly, Asiana Airlines' Incheon?Rome route will be reduced from five flights per week to four flights per week starting from the 25th of next month. The Incheon?Frankfurt route will operate four times a week from the 30th of the same month, decreasing by three flights per week compared to before. The Incheon?Paris route will see a reduction from six flights per week to five flights per week starting May 12.

Asiana Airlines provided related information through its official website on the same day. Customers who have already booked the affected flights will be separately notified of the changed flight schedules. Subsequently, based on customer requests, support will be provided for destination and date changes, waiver of refund and reissue fees, and alternative flights with other airlines.

To minimize customer inconvenience, compensation policies will be implemented for losses due to flight schedule changes and for customers of canceled flights on the reduced dates. A dedicated task force (TF) for customer response will be formed, and a dedicated hotline for customers affected by the flight reductions will be operated.

Customers who purchased the affected flights through the official website can receive prompt responses and reservation changes by submitting inquiries via a dedicated email. Flight changes and refunds can also be processed through the hotline customer center. Customers who purchased tickets through travel agencies or online travel platforms must contact their point of purchase.

An Asiana Airlines official said, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers," and added, "We plan to actively support customers by changing reservations to their desired schedules or providing alternative flights with other airlines to ensure no disruption to their journeys."
