Nowon-gu’s New Spring Cleaning Week with Residents on the 27th

District Mayor Inspects Vulnerable Areas in 19 Dongs and Establishes Improvement Plans

Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will designate the period from the 24th to the 28th as the New Spring Cleaning Week and conduct cleaning activities. The 27th will be the ‘Cleaning Day’ with a joint public-private cleaning effort.

Main roads such as Dongil-ro, Nohae-ro, and Sanggye-ro will be cleaned using cleaning vehicles for road surface watering, dust suction, and road surface cleaning. Water sprinklers will also clean pigeon droppings accumulated in above-ground subway sections and under overpasses near Nowon Station and Sanggye Station. Additionally, street trash bins, subway station surroundings, parks, green belts along walking paths, and riversides will be intensively maintained.

On the designated ‘Cleaning Day’ of the 27th, all 19 dongs in Nowon-gu will conduct cleaning together with residents. About 1,600 people, including dong community center staff, civic groups, Clean Keepers, and volunteers, will participate, focusing on vulnerable cleaning areas selected by each dong.

Especially around the cleaning period, the district mayor will visit the sites in all 19 dongs to personally inspect vulnerable areas. This is to prepare effective cleaning by checking the management status of alleys, areas with frequent complaints, and vulnerable points before cleaning, and to seek landscape improvement plans to minimize residents’ inconvenience after cleaning.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, "Urban cleanliness is closely related to residents’ satisfaction and can quickly deteriorate if neglected even briefly, so it requires constant attention," adding, "We will strive to create a pleasant environment so that the dust accumulated in residents’ hearts can also be swept away through the spring cleaning."
