Kim Dong-yeon Targets Jeon Gwang-hoon and Son Hyun-bo Leading Protests Against Yoon's Impeachment
"Hatred, Annihilation, and Prejudice Run Rampant... Disgracing Christians"
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon targeted pastors Jeon Gwang-hoon and Son Hyun-bo, who are leading rallies opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, "Stop falsely claiming to represent Jesus' will and scheming to divide society, and repent." On the 16th, Governor Kim posted on social media (SNS) citing the Bible verse, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1), expressing this view.

On the same day, it was reported that Governor Kim attended a worship service at a church in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, with his wife. He said, "I earnestly prayed for the country during Sunday worship. I prayed that justice would be restored and national unity achieved," adding, "In my 53 years as a Christian, I have never prayed with such a heavy heart as I have recently."
He criticized, "Some far-right Protestant groups, including Jeon Gwang-hoon and Son Hyun-bo, are inciting hatred and violence in our society and leading division and confrontation. They distort the Christian spirit of love for Jesus Christ and love for people, and disgrace the name of Christians."
He continued, "The love of Jesus has been thoroughly betrayed. The doctrines of love, peace, and justice have been ruthlessly trampled, while language of hatred, annihilation, and prejudice runs rampant. That terrible language of violence reminds us of those who tormented Jesus. Jeon Gwang-hoon and Son Hyun-bo, repent. Stop falsely claiming to represent Jesus' will and scheming to divide society," he urged.
He added, "The roots of our Christianity are large and deep. It led the March 1st Movement with principles of nonviolence and peace, and after liberation, it stood with the poor and struggling neighbors, laying the cornerstone of a just community. I earnestly appeal to the brothers and sisters in Christ: turn away from the incitement of those 'hireling shepherds.' Let us unite so that the words of Jesus' love and harmony can take root in this land," he appealed.
Earlier, the YouTube channel Garoseuro Research Institute (Gaseyeon) filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, accusing Governor Kim of violating political neutrality of public officials by staging a one-person protest calling for President Yoon's dismissal since the 10th. In response, Governor Kim criticized them as "far-right YouTubers obsessed with making money," emphasizing, "I will continue to raise my voice and not back down from my demands for early impeachment."
