Mobile Communication Relay Station and Utility Pole in Front of Changdong Aureune
Now Safely Removed and Relocated to the Rooftop of the Building
The mobile communication relay station and one utility pole that had been prominently located on the sidewalk in front of Changdong Aureune (Madle-ro 13-gil, Dobong-gu) have been removed.
The mobile communication relay station is equipment that enables communication for devices (mobile phones) outside the range of the main communication base station.
The mobile communication relay station and utility pole, which resembled a large beehive, had long significantly obstructed residents' passage and the urban landscape.
Currently, the mobile communication relay station has been safely relocated to the rooftop of the Changdong Aureune building and is covered with a screen. Residents are very pleased with the removal of the relay station. Resident A said, “Whenever I had to pass by here, the relay station looked dangerous, so I would go around. Now, I don’t have to do that anymore, which is great. The walkway has become clean.”
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) made great efforts to remove the mobile communication relay station. Through continuous consultations with the three major mobile carriers (KT, SKT, LGU+) and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the relocation was successfully led. A district official stated, “Many stakeholders worked hard for the relocation. As a result, we were able to create such a pleasant street environment.”
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “I am glad that residents who had been inconvenienced by the unsightly communication relay station for a long time can now walk safely. We will continue to strive to create a clean and beautiful urban environment and a safe Dobong-gu.”
