World-renowned scholar Professor Yuval Harari of the Department of History at Hebrew University will hold a dialogue titled "The Path of Humanity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)" at 7 p.m. on the 20th at Yonsei University Grand Auditorium.
This dialogue is a preliminary event for the "International Gyeongju History and Culture Forum," which will be held in Gyeongju in September in conjunction with the "2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit." It is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism together with Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gyeongju Cultural Foundation, Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project, and Plato Academy.
Professor Harari will examine the theme of the "2025 APEC Summit," "A Sustainable Tomorrow We Create," from a cultural perspective. As a scholar researching the path to human survival and prosperity, he will discuss what humanity must do to build a sustainable future in the AI era.
Researcher Kim Ji-yoon from the Institute of Social Sciences at Sogang University will moderate the dialogue. Following the dialogue, Jeon Byung-geun, CEO of Book Club Origin, and Professor Kang Yeon-ah from the Department of Convergence Humanities and Social Sciences at Yonsei University will participate as discussants, sharing diverse perspectives on the values of humanity and the role of culture needed in the AI era.
This dialogue received high interest, with on-site attendance applications (about 1,500 seats) starting on the 5th fully booked within three days. The dialogue can be viewed live on the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 2025 APEC Summit, and Plato Academy YouTube channels, and the edited video will be posted on the participating organizations’ websites around the end of April.
A policy official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated, "This dialogue is a cultural event organized by the Ministry to fully mobilize Korea’s cultural capabilities to successfully host the APEC Summit."
