According to Taiwan's Next Apple News on the 16th, the funeral for Goo Jun-yeop's late wife, Seo Hee-won, was held on the 15th at Jinbaoshan (Geumbo Mountain) Memorial Park. At the funeral, about ten people including Goo Jun-yeop, Seo Hee-won's mother, younger sister, and children said their goodbyes to Seo Hwi-won in the rain. It had been about a month since she passed away on the 2nd of last month.

Goo Jun-yeop wore a black suit and white gloves while holding his wife's urn. Next Apple News reported, "Goo Jun-yeop appeared gaunt and emaciated," adding, "He cried throughout with a sorrowful expression." Due to the heavy rain and wind that day, funeral staff held an umbrella over Goo Jun-yeop to keep him from getting wet. It was also noted that Seo Hee-won's ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, was not seen. The funeral took place in a tent set up at the memorial park.

About 30 minutes later, Goo Jun-yeop and their two children headed to the columbarium. Following the Taiwanese tradition that "an elderly person with white hair does not see off a deceased person with black hair," Seo Hee-won's mother waited in the car. The media reported, "Goo Jun-yeop personally saw off his beloved wife's remains with bloodshot eyes, holding her urn close."

Earlier, there were incorrect reports that Seo Hee-won's remains were kept at home. After the funeral, the remains were placed at the Jinbaoshan funeral home and were said to have been interred at the cemetery on the day of the funeral.

A statue of Seo Hee-won will be erected in the celebrity section of Jinbaoshan Memorial Park so fans can pay their respects. Originally, according to the deceased's wishes, a tree burial was planned, but after family discussions, the funeral location was changed. Goo Jun-yeop reportedly expressed his desire to have an independent space where he can visit his beloved wife anytime.

Seo Hee-won was a Taiwanese star active as an actress, singer, and TV host. She gained great popularity in 2001 by playing the female lead in the drama based on the Japanese manga "Boys Over Flowers." She married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011 but divorced in 2021 due to his violence and other issues. Goo Jun-yeop and Seo Hee-won met in Taiwan in 1998 and began dating, but broke up after a year due to opposition from their agencies. After Seo Hee-won divorced Wang Xiaofei in 2021, she contacted Goo Jun-yeop after about 20 years, and they married the following year in 2022.

However, after contracting the flu during a family trip to Japan in February, including Goo Jun-yeop, she passed away due to pneumonia complications.
