A representative of the Joguk Innovation Party said at a press briefing held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul on the 16th, "Candidate Seo Sang-beom, who is running in the Guro District Mayor by-election on April 2, is coincidentally a member of the impeachment prosecution legal team for the Constitutional Court and National Assembly, so we gathered the media to talk about this."
Chairman Seo served as the legal secretary at the Blue House during the Moon Jae-in administration and acted as a representative for President Yoon's impeachment trial in the National Assembly. Having gained recognition as a key figure in the National Assembly's impeachment process for President Yoon, he received a nomination for a basic local government head position and completed his candidate registration. Regarding this, Shin Jang-sik, a member of the Joguk Innovation Party, explained in his opening remarks, "(Chairman Seo) has completed his role as an impeachment prosecution representative," adding, "He no longer has any role left as a legal professional."
Regarding the confirmation of the Constitutional Court's ruling date, Chairman Seo stated, "Personally, I believe an 8-0 unanimous acceptance in President Yoon's impeachment trial is natural and expected," but added, "However, since the public is divided during this process, the Constitutional Court feels a heavy burden in setting the ruling date. If the ruling date is set before the weekend, there are concerns about conflicts, so I expect the ruling to be announced during the weekdays."
