Extraordinary Session Begins on the 17th
"Focusing on Livelihood Budgets Despite the Impeachment Crisis"
The Buk-gu Council of Gwangju will convene its 301st extraordinary session on the 17th and proceed with its agenda for 11 days until the 28th.
During this session, a total of 18 agenda items will be addressed, including the 2025 1st supplementary budget proposal, the revised fund management plan, 13 ordinance proposals, 2 consent proposals, 1 plan proposal, and 1 resolution.
From the 18th to the 25th, each standing committee and the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts will review the supplementary budget proposal and the revised fund management plan. The 1st supplementary budget amounts to 1.04 trillion won, an increase of 34.1 billion won over the original budget. Major allocations include: ▲10.1 billion won for local gift certificates to support livelihoods ▲2.61 billion won for the Ilgok Life Culture Center ▲2.98 billion won for emergency welfare ▲1.06 billion won for disability activity support benefits ▲30 million won for the Tongjang Hanmaeum Festival, among others.
On the 26th, each standing committee will review general agenda items such as ordinance and consent proposals and visit major project sites. The final decisions on the committee reviews will be made at the 2nd plenary session on the 28th, concluding the extraordinary session.
Chairman Choi Moosong stated, "The budget is a solid foundation for restoring livelihoods and improving the quality of life for residents," and added, "Even amid the confusion of the impeachment crisis, the Buk-gu Council will remain focused on budget deliberations without wavering."
