Russian President Vladimir Putin was reported to have kept Steve Witkoff, a special envoy sent by U.S. President Donald Trump, waiting for a long time, which enraged President Trump.
On the 15th (local time), President Trump said on the social networking service (SNS) Truth Social, "Fake news, as always, does it again! Why have they never been honest even once?"
He continued, "I read last night that Russian President Vladimir Putin kept my very respected ambassador and special envoy Steve Witkoff waiting for over 9 hours," adding, "In reality, there was no waiting time at all."
Before meeting President Putin, Special Envoy Witkoff met with other Russian officials, and naturally, such meetings took time but were "very productive," he said.
President Trump claimed that the discussions proceeded quickly and effectively, and all signs looked very positive, stating, "To conclude, there was no 9-hour wait, and there was no waiting at all."
He added, "The only reason they (the media) fabricated such stories is to disparage," calling them "sick degenerates."
