LG and Samsung Take Top Spots in Consumer Reports' "Best Top Freezer Refrigerators" Evaluation
Our companies, including LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics, have ranked first in refrigerators following washing machines in U.S. consumer evaluations.
According to the industry on the 16th, LG Electronics was recently selected as number one in the 'Best Top Freezer Refrigerators of 2025' evaluation by Consumer Reports in the U.S. for both 30-inch and 33-inch models. In the 21 to 28-inch model category, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics models took first and second place respectively.
Top freezer refrigerators have a simple structure, making them less prone to breakdowns and offering excellent cost-effectiveness due to their affordable price. Consumer Reports installed temperature sensors inside the refrigerators and conducted tests for over a month, analyzing more than 5.4 million temperature data points to evaluate the storage performance of the refrigerators. They also reflected surveys from thousands of members to score brand reliability and customer satisfaction.
As a result, LG Electronics' 30-inch model (76 points) received the highest ratings in temperature control and energy efficiency. It also received good evaluations for temperature uniformity, with noise levels rated as moderate. For the 33-inch model, LG Electronics' model (76 points) was highly rated for energy efficiency and received good scores in temperature control, temperature uniformity, noise, and price.
In the 21 to 28-inch category, Samsung Electronics' 28-inch model (78 points) took first place by receiving the highest scores in temperature control, uniformity, and energy efficiency, followed by LG Electronics' 28-inch model (77 points), which was rated excellent in energy efficiency and temperature control.
According to market research firm Trackline, the market share of refrigerators by our companies, including Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, in the U.S. market is close to half, at 47.7% based on sales.
Previously, in the 'Best Washer and Dryer Sets' evaluation conducted by Consumer Reports, LG Electronics took first place in two categories: drum washer and dryer sets, and top-loading washer and dryer sets, while Samsung Electronics took first place in the agitator washer and dryer set category.
