The Gwangju Office of Education is distributing customized materials and operating various support programs to improve Korean language literacy rates among lower-grade elementary school students.

According to the Gwangju Office of Education on the 16th, Korean language classes will be strengthened to help first and second graders in elementary school master Hangul. The learning material "Ddokddok Letter Play" will be distributed to first graders, with separate versions for students and teachers. "Ddokddok Letter Play," which has been developed and distributed since 2020, has been updated this year to reflect the revised curriculum, increasing its usability. The materials are structured to match students' developmental stages, covering everything from explanations of consonants and vowels to word and reading games.

In addition, the city education office is operating the "Reading Doodream" project, which provides support for diagnostic and treatment costs for students who have difficulty acquiring Hangul, such as those with dyslexia. The office also plans to strengthen responsibility for Hangul education through teacher training and a university student assistant instructor program.
