Strong Wind and Wave Warnings on Land and Sea
Strong rain and wind swept through Jeju, leading to the complete cancellation of the '2025 Jeju Deulbul Festival,' one of Jeju's largest spring festivals.
On the 15th, Jeju City announced that all remaining schedules of the Jeju Deulbul Festival, which was being held around Saebyeol Oreum in Bongseong-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju City, would be canceled due to worsening weather conditions.
The Jeju Deulbul Festival had opened on the 14th and was scheduled to continue until the 16th. Jeju City judged that the event could not proceed due to strong winds and held an emergency meeting at 9:50 a.m. that day to decide on the cancellation.

Currently, a strong wind warning is in effect for northern, eastern, and northern mid-mountain areas of Jeju, while other regions are under a strong wind advisory. Winds are reaching maximum instantaneous speeds of 15 to 25 meters per second, with the daily maximum instantaneous wind speed at Saebyeol Oreum recorded at 24.8 meters per second.
A wind and wave warning and advisory have also been issued for all seas around Jeju, causing continuous damage due to the strong winds.
At the festival site, pre-installed facilities were toppled by the strong winds, making it impossible to proceed with the event normally. Dozens of tents used for experience programs and merchandise sales collapsed, and event goods and equipment were scattered everywhere, turning the site into chaos. The wind is so strong that even adults find it difficult to stand or walk.

This year's Jeju Deulbul Festival was highly anticipated as the first event to be held digitally without setting actual fires. Digital Daljip lighting, the digital fire lighting 'Oreum Hyangyeon,' and the finale concert were scheduled for the afternoon but were canceled due to worsening weather.
However, the opening ceremony held the previous day proceeded safely. Instead of fire, performances using light were presented at the event. A digital cube was installed on the central podium of the stage, and digital fireworks were recreated through video, showcasing the digital transition of the Oreum fire lighting. Following this, a media art show based on original artwork by young artists from Jeju was held in front of Saebyeol Oreum. Several performance teams, including trot singer Song Ga-in, took the stage to elevate the festival atmosphere.
