Comprehensive Fire Safety Crackdown at Over 200 Vulnerable Sites Until May 23

The Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 15th that it will carry out a comprehensive crackdown on violations of fire safety laws at fire protection construction sites and hazardous materials manufacturing facilities until May 23.
The inspection team, consisting of the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters and special judicial police officers from five fire stations, will conduct unannounced inspections at approximately 200 fire-prone sites, including new construction sites, factories, gas stations, and vehicles transporting hazardous materials.
The main inspection items include: ▲ illegal subcontracting and separate ordering violations in fire protection facility construction ▲ lack of technical personnel or renting of certificates ▲ unauthorized storage or handling of hazardous materials ▲ unauthorized changes to the location, structure, or facilities of manufacturing plants ▲ on-site inspections of mobile tank storage facilities and vehicles transporting hazardous materials. Any violations detected will be strictly dealt with according to relevant laws, ranging from on-site correction to legal action.
During last year's comprehensive crackdown on 102 large construction sites and hazardous materials manufacturing facilities, a total of 40 violations of fire safety laws were detected, including 7 criminal cases.
Kim Youngil, head of the Fire Prevention Division at the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters, stated, "We will eradicate illegal activities that threaten the safety of citizens through strong legal measures," and added, "We ask for the active cooperation of all parties involved so that a culture of safety management can take root."
