Snow and rain are falling in various parts of Gwangju and Jeonnam even in mid-March. On Seongsamjae in Jirisan, Gurye-gun, Jeonnam, 2.4 cm of snow accumulated, prompting the Gwangju Meteorological Administration to issue a heavy snow advisory at 8:30 a.m. on the 15th.
Rainfall of 5 to 10 mm (5 to 20 mm in the southern coastal area) is forecast for all of Gwangju and Jeonnam through the 16th, and 2 to 8 cm of snow is expected in the mountainous inland regions of eastern Jeonnam. Although temperatures will be 2 to 4 degrees higher than average, visibility may be reduced and roads may become slippery in areas where rain or snow falls.
In particular, as this is a period of increased risk for traffic accidents due to black ice, drivers should pay special attention to reducing speed and maintaining a safe distance.
An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration advised, "Roads may be slippery due to snow and rain, so please pay special attention to traffic safety."
