Dongdaemun-gu Enhances Administrative Efficiency Through AI Education

Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Ilpyeong Lee, hereinafter referred to as ‘the district’) conducted training on the video editing tool ‘CapCut’ to enhance employees’ AI utilization capabilities.

Aiming to create a ‘Smart Future City,’ the district is striving to improve administrative efficiency through artificial intelligence (AI) technology and advanced digital technologies.

This ‘CapCut’ training session is the second following the design graphic tool ‘MiriCanvas’ training held in December last year, focusing on helping employees easily produce video content that promotes the district’s policies and projects.

Employees attending the training learned CapCut’s basic functions such as video trimming, AI automatic subtitles, and animation effects, then learned how to add background music to enhance message delivery. Afterwards, they had time to create simple policy promotion videos containing information they needed to communicate to residents in their respective duties.

Jura Park, Head of the Planning and Budget Division, said, “I believe video editing training will be very helpful in making it easier for residents to understand new policies or amended laws promoted by the district.”

Along with this, the district will continue to promote the ‘Generative AI Challenge’ this year to encourage employees to innovate administrative work through AI technology.

Last year’s challenge theme was ‘Administrative Improvement Measures through ChatGPT,’ where new public officials discovered useful applications such as the ‘Eogong (Accidental Public Official) Helper Platform,’ which helps them learn related laws and tasks through chatbot conversations.

This year, the participant scope has been expanded to ‘teams by bureau (branch),’ strengthening collaboration and focusing on finding ways to maximize organizational work efficiency beyond individual employee skill improvement and to establish AI-based digital administration.

Six teams advancing to the final round will receive the district mayor’s certificate along with a total prize of 5 million KRW.

Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “Through generative AI and digital innovation, more efficient and creative administration will be realized. We will strive to link AI administrative innovation with smart city projects so that Dongdaemun-gu can leap forward as a representative smart autonomous district.”
