Investing 37.7 Billion KRW in Construction and Saemaeul Sectors
Creating a Desirable and Livable Residential Environment
Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province will invest 37.7 billion KRW this year in the construction and Saemaeul (New Village) sectors to create a convenient and stable residential environment and overcome the crisis of local extinction.
To this end, the county plans to focus on: ▲realizing prompt and transparent construction administration and balanced development of areas around dams ▲creating a safe road environment and expanding road infrastructure ▲expanding and maintaining agricultural infrastructure for stable water supply ▲creating eco-friendly waterfront spaces in harmony with nature and the environment ▲expanding facilities for residents' convenience to build a happy and livable Cheongsong.
These projects are expected to greatly contribute to realizing the vision of "Cheongsong United, Leaping Beyond!"
Cheongsong County will strive to increase public satisfaction by handling construction-related civil complaints promptly, foster the local construction industry by creating a stable construction environment, and establish a fair construction culture.
In addition, to promote balanced development in areas surrounding dams, 770 million KRW will be invested in projects to increase the income and improve the living infrastructure of residents who have suffered indirect damage due to dam construction, thereby enhancing residents' welfare.
Furthermore, 950 million KRW will be allocated to maintain and repair groundwater facilities installed to resolve the shortage of agricultural water in Hyunseo-myeon and Andeok-myeon, areas affected by the Yeongcheon Dam water conveyance tunnel, to ensure a stable supply of water for daily life and agriculture.
Next, the county plans to improve transportation safety and convenience for residents by maintaining local roads. Nineteen hundred million KRW will be invested in the maintenance and expansion of county and rural roads, including widening, paving, alignment improvements, and asphalt overlay. The county will also focus on preventing traffic accidents and creating safe school routes by painting lane markings and installing guardrails in children's protection zones.
Additionally, 3.2 billion KRW will be invested in the replacement construction of Ongjeom 1 Bridge to secure the safety of disaster-prone bridges, and 230 million KRW will be allocated for precise safety inspections of bridges over 100 meters in length, including Cheongsong Bridge (Cheongsong-eup), Wolmak Bridge (Cheongsong-eup), and Deokcheon Bridge (Pacheon-myeon).
The county also plans to ensure safety by conducting regular inspections and continuous maintenance of bridges.
To secure and supply agricultural water smoothly, small-scale rural water development, field infrastructure maintenance, and repair of water facilities will be continuously promoted. This year, 300 million KRW will be invested to improve the irrigation canal in Juwangsan-myeon, Jiri, securing agricultural water for 1.8 hectares of farmland. The county will also complete the Ijeon District small-scale rural water development project (8.1 billion KRW), the field infrastructure maintenance project in Dureugol District, Mogae-ri, Hyunseo-myeon (26.4 hectares), and the field infrastructure maintenance project in Manan District, Jisori, Andeok-myeon (28.4 hectares).
Moreover, 4.8 billion KRW will be used to repair and maintain 54 districts of aging reservoirs and agricultural infrastructure, aiming to increase agricultural productivity and improve farming conditions.
River maintenance projects for disaster prevention will also be actively promoted. Thirty-five hundred million KRW will be invested in disaster risk improvement district maintenance, 400 million KRW in maintenance and repair of river facilities and general rivers, and 1.7 billion KRW in river and small river maintenance projects, aiming to repair aging facilities around rivers and minimize riverbank erosion and farmland flooding.
Additionally, 5.3 billion KRW will be invested in the Silmul Small River maintenance project, and further maintenance will be carried out in Motgol and Neungnam districts to effectively respond to abnormal rainfall, typhoons, and other natural disasters.
To permanently restore damage from heavy rainfall, 1 billion KRW of county funds will be invested, and 900 million KRW will be used to continuously clear obstacles and sediment from rivers to create an eco-friendly riverside environment and improve water quality through smooth river flow.
To expand facilities for residents' convenience, 12 billion KRW will be invested in 378 projects to improve small-scale public facilities closely related to residents' daily lives, such as village roads, farm roads, small streams, and small bridges. Through these efforts, the county aims to resolve long-standing wishes of local residents and create a safe rural living environment.
Additionally, the county will regularly inspect and repair community centers, welfare centers, and octagonal pavilions to ensure that residents can use these facilities without inconvenience.
Cheongsong County has selected a total of 5,184 facilities through a comprehensive survey of small-scale public facilities (small streams, village access roads, farm roads, small bridges, weirs, and drop structures) throughout the county. The county has evaluated the risk level of each facility, set priorities, and established a maintenance plan accordingly.
This data will be used to build an efficient facility maintenance system through database creation and management program development, and based on this, the county will actively secure national and provincial budgets, such as the Disaster Safety Special Grant Tax.
County Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "As the frequency of disasters such as heavy rainfall and drought increases due to abnormal climate, we will systematically maintain safe and convenient infrastructure to build a safety infrastructure that communicates and empathizes with residents," adding, "We will do our best to inspire residents' willingness to settle and create a greater, resident-centered Cheongsong County."
