First in the Region... Offering Opportunities for Job Experience
Seo-gu District in Gwangju (District Mayor Kim Ikang) is launching the city’s first “Dream Start Parent Reemployment Vocational Training.”
According to Seo-gu on the 14th, this program aims to provide various job experience opportunities and support the acquisition of certifications to help participants secure stable employment.

On this day, Seo-gu signed business agreements with Gwangju Jeil Vocational Academy, New International Vocational Academy, Jeil Beauty Academy, and UP Fashion Design Academy.
This training targets around 20 parents participating in the Dream Start program and will offer diverse vocational education twice a month until August, including beauty, horticulture instructor, coffee barista, pet snack making, Korean and Western cuisine cooking, bakery, and clothing repair and reform.
The district also plans to actively support the process of obtaining certifications and preparing for reemployment by connecting with vocational academies and the Gwangju Employment Welfare Plus Center to provide job training information.
Lee Seran, Head of Care Support, stated, “By collaborating with specialized academies in various fields, we will help Dream Start parents gain confidence in obtaining certifications and employment, and strive to provide job opportunities through skill development.”
Meanwhile, Seo-gu Dream Start has consistently promoted projects to support the healthy growth and development of children under 12 from vulnerable groups and to ensure equal starting opportunities. This year, the district plans to offer customized services linked to programs in different developmental areas and various community resources.
