2.128 Billion KRW Invested in Industrial Water Supply Project
Goal to Secure 260,000 Tons by 2030

The "Gwangyang (IV) Industrial Water Supply Project" promoted by the Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office has passed the preliminary feasibility study by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

According to the Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office on the 14th, this project aims to supply an additional 106,000 tons of industrial water per day to the Yeosu and Gwangyang National Industrial Complexes by utilizing surplus water from the Juam Dam. The project includes the construction of an intake station and a 46.2 km-long pipeline. The total project cost is 212.8 billion KRW.


In line with the "2030 Roadmap for Establishing a Water Supply Network in the Gwangyang Bay Area," the Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office plans to secure an additional 260,000 tons of water per day by 2030. To achieve this, they are promoting wastewater reuse (50,000 tons), adjustment of the water supply system (120,000 tons), reuse of treated sewage water (70,000 tons), and development of groundwater dams (20,000 tons).


Kim Youngwoo, head of the office, stated, "With the industrial water supply project gaining momentum, the water supply measures for the Gwangyang Bay Area will also accelerate. We will cooperate with local governments and the industrial sector to establish a stable water supply network."
