Gyeonggi-do Icheon City will conduct guidance and inspections on the compliance with country of origin labeling for group (consignment) meal service facilities starting from the 18th.
This inspection targets group meal service facilities where 50 or more people eat at one time, and consignment meal service facilities that prepare and provide food at group meal service sites. The city plans to focus on items specified in Article 3, Paragraph 5 of the "Enforcement Decree of the Country of Origin Labeling Act," including beef, pork, chicken, duck, lamb, goat, napa cabbage kimchi, rice, soybeans, and flatfish.
During the inspection, the presence of country of origin labels on menus, menu boards, or bulletin boards will be checked, and for group meals targeting minors, the city will also verify whether notifications to households or additional disclosures on the internet homepage are provided.
A city official stated, "We will continue to conduct guidance and inspections to provide safe food and fulfill consumers' right to know."
