The Jemincheon riverside, which runs through the historic city center (original downtown) of Gongju, Chungnam, the royal capital of Baekje, and is beloved by both locals and tourists, is being transformed into a new rose tourism trail.
On the 14th, Gongju City announced that it had signed a business agreement with Atomy Co., Ltd. at the City Hall’s Jiphyeon Room to create a rose path along the Jemincheon riverside in the royal city center.
According to the agreement, the city and Atomy will plant 5,000 ‘Four Seasons Roses’, known as the queen of flowers, along a 670-meter stretch of the Jemincheon riverside between Geumseonggyo and Ungjingyo bridges.
The rose planting will take place over two days, on the 19th and 20th, with around 100 participants including Gongju citizens and Atomy employees.
The Four Seasons Roses, which include over 20 varieties such as Novalis and Summer Memories, bloom in spring, summer, and fall except for the middle of winter, offering a colorful and splendid display. This is expected to provide a rich and beautiful healing space for both locals and tourists.
The city expects that the creation of the Jemincheon Rose Tourism Trail will further revitalize the royal city center area, which has already been attracting visitors through urban regeneration efforts.
The city and Atomy have agreed to continue working together on the management and propagation of roses after the creation of the rose tourism trail, as well as to discuss other necessary matters on an ongoing basis.
Atomy has played a significant role in revitalizing the local economy and has consistently carried out donation activities every year to support residents in need within Gongju City.
Mayor Choi Woncheol said, “I expect this agreement to be an opportunity to make the Jemincheon riverside an even more beautiful and attractive space,” adding, “We will do our best to develop it into a landmark that both citizens and tourists can enjoy together.”
Yoon Yongsun, CEO of Atomy Co., Ltd., stated, “Atomy has been engaged in various social contribution activities such as providing welfare vehicles and supplies for the underprivileged in Gongju City, and this project is also part of our commitment to the development of the local community. We will continue to strengthen our cooperation with Gongju City in the future.”
